Once again, we’re asking Pitt English alum to take pen to paper. This time, we’re calling for entries to our super-flash nonfiction contest. It won’t be easy to pack a punch in just 500 words, but we have a feeling our talented alumni just might be able to pull it off. To learn about the flash subgenre, here’s an interview with Dinty Moore, the editor of Brevity magazine.
Senior Lecturer and Contest Judge Jennifer Lee
We’re fortunate to have as a judge for the competition Pitt MFA alumna and current Senior Lecturer Jennifer Lee. Lee writes essays on art and the body, some of which have appeared in Mid-American Review, Critical Quarterly, and Hotel Amerika, among others. She is the recipient of an Edward Albee Foundation Award and winner of the Jellybucket Creative Nonfiction prize. Lee is the co-founder of Bloomfield Yoga.
Write, and then cut, cut, cut to 500 words or less. Send your entries to engalums@pitt.edu by April 1, 2019.
