The inter-disciplinary Film Program at the University of Pittsburgh is a valuable training ground for a career in film studies. The diversity of academic interests amongst the faculty as well as their collegial generosity make for an exciting and supportive intellectual environment for graduate students. The rigorous pedagogical training offered by the Department of English (where I specialized in Film Studies) prepares one for teaching courses across a range of subjects, classroom sizes, and heterogeneous student groups.
